blind to the summer

the rain is washing him off
her summer shades
away he goes –
trickle – drip – drop
                                      down
                                                   her
                                                           face
landing
in an unforgiving
pool
of shapeless hues

the trees are stripping

down

         down

                      down
                                           leaf by leaf

brazen and naked

baring it all

for him alone
to see his reflection
the sun in her eyes

the universe was screaming
